QUEENS, N.Y.
— There's coffee and sandwiches readily available at Deli-licious delicatessen, but no customers.
Co-owner Alex Batista says “it’s been a ghost town" in the Queens neighborhood of Glendale as New York City residents shelter-in-place to avoid coming in contact with the coronavirus.
Batista says sales have dropped precipitously in recent weeks, and even with a pickup in delivery orders, it can't keep going like this if he and his brother want to stay in business.
He's waiting to see what happens, and says “hopefully this is the worst it could get before it gets better.”
