A New York City police detective faces charges that he fabricated drug charges against five innocent men.
An indictment unsealed in Queens accuses 38-year-old detective Adolph Osback of falsely accusing the men of selling him drugs that included cocaine.
The cases dated to 2006 and 2007.
Charges against the men were all ultimately dropped.
Osback was suspended without pay in mid-November.
His lawyer, Damien Brown, tells The New York Times his client is "absolutely innocent" and will be vindicated.
He is charged with perjury, unlawful imprisonment and official misconduct.
Osback also faces charges in a separate Brooklyn case related to his work at a precinct where several officers have been accused of trading drugs for information.
How many New Yorkers must fall victim to a quota system that pressures cops to make arrest and write tickets if they want to keep their jobs.
We here in New York have become the unwitting victims of a police force that has proven not to be here to protect and serve...but instead to ticket and arrest.
How many more of us must go to jail or pay expensive tickets before we tell NYPD to take their protection and shove it !
