On Tuesday, 80 retired New York City police officers and firefighters were charged with Social Security disability frauds.
The sprawling, decades-long scheme is one of the largest of such frauds in history.
As many as 1,000 people made false mental disability claims, which cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, according to court papers.
