Doug Williams became the first African American quarterback to play in a Super Bowl when he led his Washington Redskins to a 42-10 drubbing of John Elway and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII.
Williams who was drafted out of Grambling State University also distinguished himself by becoming the first player in Super Bowl history to pass for four touchdowns in a single quarter,and throw four in a half.
Doug was named the games MVP after completing 18 of 29 passes for a Super Bowl record 340 yards.
The 10 point deficit his team overcame remains the largest ever overcome by a Super Bowl winner.
Doug is co founder along with Shack Harris of the Black College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
