On Tuesday, February 18th, the President invited a group of seven Japanese American World War II veterans to the Oval Office, to honor their service during a period when the U.S.
Government actively discriminated against Japanese Americans.
The group served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which is one of the most decorated units in U.S.
military history, and in the Military Intelligence Service, and were in town as part of a "homecoming" celebration for recipients of the Congressional Gold Medal.
