The center of Kiev has been transformed into a battleground as rioters clash with police on Independence Square.
Ukraine has seen some of its worst scenes of violence over the last few days, with over 60 dead and over 500 injured in the escalating conflict.
Violence escalated on Tuesday after a group of radicals attempted to storm the building of the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada).
On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych agreed to a truce with opposition leaders, and that he would begin negotiations with protesters.
Now, the US has imposed individual sanctions for 20 Ukrainian politicians for the use of violence on protesters.
