The US may release Israeli-American spy Jonathan Pollard in an attempt to save the so-called peace talks between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian Authority.
A US official speaking on condition of anonymity has said that no decision has been made yet, but confirmed there had been discussions on the matter.
The source added that as part of a possible deal, Washington may release the jailed spy.
In exchange, Israel would agree to release a fourth group of Palestinian prisoners.
Then the Palestinian Authority and Israel would agree to a US proposal to extend their negotiations beyond the April 29 deadline.
Pollard was arrested in Washington back in 19-85, and condemned to life in prison for spying on the United States on behalf of Israel.
