The Department of Defense just created a new agency called the Biological Technology Office, or BTO.
The new agency will deal with programs coming out of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, which involve combining living stuff with technology.
While many of their projects might sound exciting from a progressive or sci-fi point of view, the fact remains that this agency falls under the Department of Defense - not health, science, or any other less warring department.
