A new discovery-- Israeli archaeologists have uncovered a mysterious Egyptian coffin in the Jezreel Valley.
The 3,300-year-old broken ceramic coffin was uncovered during excavations by the Israel Antiquities Authority.
The coffin-cover featured a lid in the shape of a person with the skeleton of an adult inside.
It was surrounded by a variety of pottery, including food storage vessels, tableware and animal bones.
It is the first such coffin to be discovered in the region in half a century.
Next to the coffin, the archaeologists also found a gold scarab ring inscribed with the name of an Egyptian King.
The remains more likely belonged to an influential Canaanite man, believed to be an Egyptian army official.
