Millions of poor Brits are being pushed further into poverty because of what has been called the perfect storm of below-inflation benefit rises and changes to the country's welfare system.
The report, entitled Multiple Cuts for the Poorest Families has found that 1.75 million households had been adversely affected.
The Department for Work and Pensions disputes the findings of Oxfam's report.
in the past Ian Duncan Smith's Department has stated that welfare reforms are crucial in order to ensure that the U.K.'s benefit system is fair for all.
The report's authors say it is unacceptable for the very poorest to be paying such a high price and unless the government acts fast, the numbers of those affected will only continue to rise.
