Scientists have created the first organism with "alien" DNA.
After 15 years, researchers at the Scripps Research Institute were able to create an organism that has more than the basic four "bases," the chemicals that unite DNA strands into a double helix.
The advancement in technology has the potential for the creation of custom organisms capable of performing tasks currently unattainable.
