Palestinian envoy to the United Nations Riyad Mansour says Palestinians are held captive by Israel in an open prison called the Gaza Strip.
He made the remarks during a United Nations Security Council meeting over the Israeli war on Gaza.
Mansour condemned Israel for attacking densely-populated areas in the Palestinian territory with missiles, bombs and artillery shelling.
He added that Palestinians want an end to the Israeli aggression and their collective punishment.
The Palestinian official also criticized the international community and the U-N-S-C for failing to stop Israeli atrocities.
Mansour says Israel should not be allowed to carry out its crimes with immunity.
