Activists across Europe have held demonstrations to show anger at the world's biggest free trade pact between the United States and the European Union.

Tens of thousands across Germany held rallies to protest the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP.

If passed, the deal would allow corporations to sue governments for policies they consider detrimental to their business interests.

The deal is seen by many as a threat to democracy and accountability for big businesses.

Protesters in other European cities also marched against the pact.

In London, people rallied on Shepherd's Bush Green, carrying placards and banners to condemn the agreement.

In the Belgian capital Brussels, several thousand joined a rally and chanted anti-capitalist slogans.

They also called on European leaders to create jobs.

Madrid, Helsinki, Warsaw, and Prague were other cities which saw similar marches.

One of the biggest rallies was staged in Paris.
