Israel has released Palestinian political prisoner Khader Adnan who had been jailed for over a year without charge or trial.
The senior member of the Islamic Jihad movement had launched an indefinite hunger strike in April to protest Tel Aviv’s policy of administrative detention.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Center for Studies, the number of Israeli administrative detention orders against Palestinians has increased by 150 percent.
The rights body has reported that Israeli authorities have issued 571 detention orders against Palestinians during the first half of 20-15.
Administrative detention is an archaic procedure which allows the Israeli military to hold prisoners indefinitely without any charge or trial.
