A former CIA contractor has compared former vice president Dick Cheney to a monster, who is behind the creation of Daesh terrorists and now wants Syria destroyed.

“This monster, who helped kill millions of Iraqis, wants to kill many Syrians also,” Steven Kelley told Press TV on Monday.

“He is part of the evil that created ISIS/ISIL.

    He wants Syria destroyed.”

Cheney, who served as vice president in the George W.

Bush administration, blamed President Barack Obama for the flood of refugees fleeing war-torn Syria to Europe, describing it as “a terrible tragedy.”

“I think when the US played a major role in the region, it would have been much easier to manage this situation,” he added.

He said Obama has helped to “create a huge vacuum”' in Iraq for terror groups because he failed to secure an agreement with Iraqi leaders to keep American troops in the country after the war.

“That contributed directly to the refugee crisis,” Cheney said.

“Cheney vaguely suggests that Obama created the vacuum that the USA could better manage the situation by playing a major role,” said Kelley.

“Cheney also threatens that the refugees will bring extremist terror into the host countries,” said Kelley.

The former vice president, one of the key architects of the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, has increased his criticism of the Obama administration’s foreign policy in recent months.

White House officials have shrugged off Cheney’s criticism and have faulted him for misjudgments on the Iraq war.

In 2003, Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq under the pretext that former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction.

In October 2004, however, a CIA report revealed that Saddam did not have any active WMD program at the time of the invasion.
